Fire alarms are brilliant, highly effective devices. However, they can prove to be incredibly frustrating when they prove to be temperamental, especially in the midst of an operational business day. One of the most irritating of these malfunctions is ongoing beeping and it can distract employees, customers and members of the public. If you find that your alarm is beeping without any reason, or going on and off throughout the day, then this could be a sign of a number of different potential flaws with your alarm.

These little sounds and beeps can easily be fixed though. Below, we will go over potential causes for these noises, and provide you with some advice about how best to fix your alarm. If the commercial fire alarm is making a loud sound which is going on continuously, or is chirping with no pattern: A loud, continuous sound means that the alarm believes that there is smoke in the air.

If your alarm goes off in this way without reason to, or if you hear chirps from the alarm occurring at irregular intervals, then check on whether the battery is in the alarm correctly. The next step is to check the sensing chamber, as this noise may be due to dirt trapped in this chamber.

It could also have been caused by an interruption in the power supply to the alarm, or external factors in the environment surrounding the alarm (such as an excess of humidity). If none of these factors explain the false alarm, then this may mean that your alarm needs to be replaced.

What to do if your commercial fire alarm keeps beeping
