Across our operations, we have identified opportunities to introduce more eco-conscious alternatives, thereby allowing us, and the businesses that support us, to keep achieving their environmental targets.
Our Test, Refill & Refurbish Fire Extinguisher Scheme
New Extinguishers require raw materials to produce, and produce carbon dioxide in both their production and the shipping of the final product. As a result, the process inevitably has a significant impact on the Environment.
At Target Fire, we ensure that we minimise the number of new extinguishers that we need to produce. This represents huge savings in waste and the environmental cost of this production.
Our services include the testing, refilling and refurbishing of fire extinguishers, in a process of Service – Test – Refill – Repeat.
The majority of commercial fire extinguishers are designed to be serviced every year and discharged, tested and/or refilled or refurbished every five to ten years.
So, fire extinguishers are made to be reused. With the correct tools and knowledge, a specialist can keep a fire extinguisher operating in perfect condition for a very long lifespan. In fact, the 20-year average life span of a fire extinguisher can be extended significantly if the extinguisher is kept in suitable condition and is serviced correctly. This is recycling at its most efficient!
Environmental Benefits = Savings for our Customers
Beyond the remarkable environmental benefit, this initiative also represents huge savings for our customers.
It will always be more cost effective to test and refill extinguishers. So, we will never recommend installing a brand new fire extinguisher, when an existing model can be tested and refilled to achieve the same standard.
Target Fire Protection can visit your site once a year, to professionally service your fire extinguishers. We have the equipment and knowledge to test and refill, as required, and this service can be completed for you immediately, on site.
Our regular maintenance service keeps your business fully compliant with all of the UK fireplace safety standards, while helping you to stay environmentally responsible, by keeping waste to a minimum.
ISO14001 Environmental Management
As set out in our ISO14001 for environmental management, our procedures represent exceptionally high environmental standards.
Along with our ISO9001 and BAFE SP101 accreditations, all of our vehicles comply with all of the regulations for clean air zones. We also have invested in a fully electric company vehicle.
Across our operations we use environmentally friendly products, including a partnership with a company that recycles fire extinguishers on our behalf. This way, you can ensure that your business is correctly disposing of any old fire extinguishers, in a safe and environmentally conscious way.
The fire safety sector is currently developing exciting new sustainable options, including fire extinguishers that, potentially, can deal with all fires through a water-based, environmentally friendly extinguishing solution. Target Fire will be championing these.
In addition, we’ve taken sustainability one step further, by installing 46 solar panels. Now, thanks to this investment, a large chunk of our electricity is produced from this renewable source.
